Electric cool box (12V): actively cooled on the road

An electric cool box cools actively from a 12V connection, as long as there is power. Suited to the road in a car, bus or van: you need no ice or frozen cooling elements and the temperature stays stable on long journeys. Also called a 12V cool box, car cool box or thermoelectric cool box.

How does an electric cool box work?

The cool box works thermoelectrically: through the 12V connection (cigarette lighter or fixed supply) it cools the interior to about 15 to 20 °C below the ambient temperature. As long as there is power, the contents stay cool, and you do not have to freeze or replace cooling elements.

What is a 12V cool box suitable for?

With a capacity of 12 litres, this cool box is made for the road: long car journeys, field service and sales reps, engineers on site, events and mobile healthcare. Also suitable for transporting chilled samples or medication where there is no mains socket but a 12V port is available.

Active or passive cooling?

An electric cool box cools continuously as long as there is power, which makes it the best choice for long journeys or multi-day use with food. If you have no power source, choose a passive cool box with cooling elements, good for 12 to 24 hours without power.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does it use?
Typically 4 to 5 A at 12 V. Consider the battery load in stationary vehicles: we recommend switching off the power if the engine is off for several hours.
How many degrees below the outside temperature?
Typically 15 to 20 °C below the outside temperature. At 30 °C outside, it maintains approximately 10 to 15 °C inside the box.
Sound?
Quiet cooling motor. Barely audible in the vehicle cabin when idling.
230V adapter?
Optionally available for use during hotel overnight stays. Please ask when ordering.
